About

Hello, my name is Michael Gruber. I maintain this website as a professional portfolio, where you’ll find links to my reading log, published works, and most recent CV.

My writing and research interests center on the history and experience of warfare, martial culture, moral injury, geopolitics, international relations and national security, political philosophy, Christian theology and spirituality, republicanism and liberal democracy, colonial America, and the human nature more broadly.

Academically, I hold a Th.M. from Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary in Collegeville, Minnesota (2025), an M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, Massachusetts (2019), and a B.A. in biblical and theological studies from Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota (2016). I am also an Army combat veteran and former paratrooper, having served on active duty from 2008 to 2013 with two deployments to Afghanistan.

I was born and raised in central Minnesota, where I continue to live with my wife and our three children.
